Massage
Massage is a system of
healing involving various methods of manipulating muscles, and
other soft tissues of the body. It's purpose is to
release
muscle spasms, break down scar tissue, increase blood flow and lymphatic
drainage, reduce inflammation, while at the same time producing a
sense of peace and calm and relaxation. There are
various forme of massage offered including, General
Relaxation, Remedial and Therapeutic.
General Relaxation massage helps to relax the
body, release stress, improve circulation of both blood
and lymphatic fluid. It works to promote a sense
feeling of inner peace and wellbeing.
Remedial & Therapeutic are stronger
deeper forms of massage therapy.
-
Remedial
Massage works more generally and is more an all-over
type of treatment, which aims to help to reduce
muscle spasms, break down scar tissue, increase blood
flow and lymphatic drainage, reduce inflammation etc.
throughout the body. It is most beneficial as an
on-going maintenance program. This helps in a number of ways, but especially in a sense
of greater wellbeing, more flexibility and mobility,
reduced joint and muscular pain, and a general increase
in energy levels.

Therapeutic Massage is more focused on a the
treatment of injuries, specific problem and/or
conditions, or a particular problem area. It's
main aim is to restore proper function and mobility to
areas that have been injured, or are particularly
stressed etc., or weakened (due to reduced mobility,
reduced blood or nerve supply etc.). A Therapeutic
Massage session usually focuses on the particular area
that is causing the problem, other related areas may
also be treated, but the main focus is on the presenting
injury/problem.
